XOSTORE is an independent editorial publication based in Switzerland. We review products that were, at some point, science fiction.

Our coverage began with a simple observation: the gap between what appears in speculative literature and what appears on a shipping manifest has narrowed considerably. We find this worth documenting.

What We Review

Each product reviewed on XOSTORE shares two properties: it has an origin in a work of science fiction — a novel, a film, a short story — and it is currently available for purchase. We write about both the object and its lineage, treating neither as more remarkable than the other.

We do not accept advertising or sponsored placements. Retailers listed in our reviews are selected editorially based on availability.

Our Standards

We review products with the same care regardless of their price, category, or provenance. A US$4.50 food supplement receives the same analytical attention as a US$680,000 aircraft. We note flaws. We note strengths. We give a numerical rating and a one-line verdict. We believe this is the minimum a reader deserves.

Where possible, we test products directly. Where direct testing is not feasible — due to regulatory restrictions, lead times, or the physical dimensions of the product — we draw on manufacturer specifications, independent technical assessments, and user reports from documented sources.

The Team

XOSTORE is edited and produced by a small team in the Swiss Plateau. We prefer not to attach names to individual reviews, preferring the publication to speak as a single voice. Correspondence may be directed to hello@xostore.ch.
